Why choose Karing Consulting?
Participants will better understand their role and others' in dementia care through an interdisciplinary view of the material covered. Our attendees can "see" how another discipline views and addresses needs through interactive dialogue, ensuring clients experience more comprehensive care.
In our seminars, dementia care is viewed through a biopsychosocial lens to ensure all areas are explored. Biologically, we explore the brain, the changes it goes through, and the relation to deficits in memory, judgment, visual perceptual and spatial deficits, sensory and physical needs and function, and their impact on quality of life and safety. The type of dementia a client has and what part of their brain is impacted is invaluable to know.
We also identify our clients' often dominant negative emotions and techniques to facilitate more positive experiences. One point that is emphasized throughout the seminar is that "challenging behavior" should be seen as a clue that there is an unmet need.
Lastly, we discuss the impact of environmental and social context on client behavior and outcomes. Whose needs do modern decorating and established routines meet? What is good for us may not be good for the person with dementia. The environment requires just as much assessment as the person with dementia.
In summary, choose Karing Consulting for a comprehensive experience with interesting examples and thorough content mixed with humor. A team that takes our course together is a team that will function better together! Who wins? The people on both ends of service delivery!
